Inspired by Chloe x Halle’s song “Overwhelmed”, this work uses a combination of digital painting and design elements to reflect the feeling of being overwhelmed by life. While burn out is normal, Kayla finds it very hard to cope with the responsibilities that come with adulthood while battling chronic disabilities such as autism, and dystonia, and frequently finds herself experiencing extreme depressive episodes as a result. 

Using the color blue and imagery of someone’s head under water, Kayla references the suffocating feeling of being in a constant state of overwhelm.
