The transition from teenager to young adult has been a difficult one, and for Kayla, has led to some of the happiest and most depressing times in her life.  She feels that she is constantly losing and finding herself, and struggles to stay passionate about anything due to the pressures of capitalism and consumerist culture.

The piece shows Kayla at three different stages in her life, as a baby, a young child, and now an adult. She chooses her child self to wear a gleeful expression, while her adult self appears hardened to reflect that she is no longer naive and innocent, but now jaded and cynical as a result of getting older.
